LET'S BLOG A LITTLE....

Hello Everyone!

I put this picture in here to REMIND you that I am WATCHING you. (Don't you love the "excited" look on Logan's face in this picture. Logan is my great, little eight year-old.)

I have instructed your substitute to have you do a few things today to get you using your blog and to do some writing. PLEASE READ EVERYTHING CAREFULLY. There are two (2) different types of work you need to get done: JOURNAL WORK (in the journals you were SUPPOSE to have today) AND ONLINE BLOG WORK.

1) JOURNAL WORK (DUE MONDAY. I will be CHECKING this in.)- Date your journal entry with either today or yesterday's date (February 4th or 5th, 2010) and entitle it "Full Moon Me 1".

A) In your journal, I want to find two (2) pages of metaphors, by answering the questions in the packet we went over yesterday and/or adding additional comparisons between yourself and anything else. KEEP ALL COMPARISONS APPROPRIATE.

B) Make your comparisons specific and detailed. (Example- "I am a cold, stale, McDonald's french fry sitting on the floor of my 2004 Toyota Prius".) Do NOT settle for bland, non-descriptive comparisons (Example- "I am old food."

C) Do more than just compare. Make whatever you're comparing yourself to, do something OR be somewhere. As in my McDonald's french fry example, it's sitting on the "floor" of a "Toyota Prius." By adding this extra information, you're saying MORE about how you see yourself.

2) ONLINE BLOG WORK (DUE BY MIDNIGHT TOMORROW, Saturday, February 6, 2010)-

YOU MAY WANT TO DO THIS FIRST DURING THE HOUR AND GET IT DONE. I will be checking your blogs on Sunday.

A) FINISH MAKING YOUR BLOG LOOK GOOD. Finish a brief profile about yourself, in the section entitled "About Me." It just needs to be a few sentences but make it be flavored with YOUR PERSONALITY.

B) Do your first BLOG ENTRY. (A few of you have done this and can help the others.) Hit the "New Post" button.

In your first blog entry, write about how life is going for you right now. REMEMBER, that this is a public blog. REMEMBER, that I and your classmates will be able to read it. DO NOT put any personal attacks or personal details in this entry. You can address how your feeling without getting into too much detail. If something GOOD is going on for your right now, and you feel comfortable with me reading it, DO WRITE ABOUT IT in GOOD DETAIL.

This first blog will be read by a few people in the class next week (or sooner). We will soon be commenting on each other's blogs. Y

Your first blog entry should be AT LEAST two (2) paragraphs long. Just treat this as a journal/diary entry, just talking about LIFE right now.

C) After this blog entry, on McCulloch's Creative Writing Blog, post a comment to today's entry. YOU WILL HAVE TO FIRST CLICK ON THE TITLE "LET'S BLOG A LITTLE". Just say "hi." Or "wish me a good weekend." I just want to make sure you ALL note how to post a comment. You should see, AFTER YOU CLICKED ON THE TITLE OF THIS ENTRY, a box at the bottom for posting a "comment". Just send me a quick "shout out." I will check for the comments also on Sunday.

I hope you all have an excellent weekend. I am VERY excited about this class. Stay Safe. I'll see you Monday.
