The Instructions for beginning "The Summer I Was..." Poems
1) Freewrite a page about summer memories (one or several) from several years ago.
AVOID writing about last summer or even the summer before that (2008). Go a little deep into your past, when life was a little more innocent.
2) Answer the following questions with JUST the answers or make little lists:
ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS FROM THE AGE YOU WERE IN ONE OF THE SUMMER MEMORIES YOU WROTE ABOUT. For instance, if I used my memories of Summer Day Camp directing in 1995, I would answer these questions as if I was once again in 1995 and 21 years old.
a) Who are your friends right now?
b) What acitivities/hobbies take up your time (School appropriate!)
c) What songs are you LISTENING to? Bands? Singers?
d) Where do you spend most of your time?
3) Read the original source material AND NOTE THE IMAGERY used....
